'Scanlon' is a striking, upright deciduous tree with a narrow, columnar form that broadens slightly with age. Its medium-sized, deeply lobed leaves are bright green in spring and summer. In autumn, the foliage transforms into vivid shades of red, orange, and yellow, creating a brilliant seasonal display. Small clusters of red flowers bloom in early spring, often before the leaves emerge, adding a subtle yet elegant touch. The smooth grey bark and refined branching structure enhance its ornamental appeal year-round.

Cultural

Prefers a full sun to partial shadeposition and performs best in well-draining, moist soil. This variety is relatively low-maintenance, requiring only minimal pruning to remove any dead or damaged branches in late winter or early spring while the tree is dormant.

Landscape Uses

Its upright, columnar form makes it ideal for narrow spaces, where it can be used as a striking vertical accent. This tree works well as a formal screen, hedge, or avenue planting along driveways and pathways, adding structure and vibrant seasonal colour.
