Commonly known as Catnip, 'Nova Blue' is a perennial herb prized for its aromatic grey-green leaves and soft blue-lavender flowers, which resemble miniature trumpets. These flowers bloom abundantly in clusters during spring and summer, attracting beneficial pollinators like bees and butterflies. Its textured foliage releases a pleasant scent when brushed or crushed, adding to its appeal.

Cultural

'Nova Blue' prefers a full sun to part shade position. While it thrives in well-drained soil, it can also tolerate poorer soils. However, it is sensitive to waterlogged conditions, which can quickly suffocate the plant. Regular deadheading and occasional pruning help maintain its neat appearance and encourage continuous new growth.

Landscape Uses

Ideal for adding texture and colour along garden borders, creating a vibrant and aromatic edge. It can also be used as a low-growing ground cover, spreading nicely to fill gaps and suppress weeds. Additionally, it performs well in pots and containers, adding a splash of colour and fragrance to patios, balconies, or entryways. It is a perfect choice for cottage gardens and pairs beautifully with Agastache x 'Sweet Lili', Salvia nemorosa 'Ostfriesland', and Sedum telephium 'Autumn Joy'.
