Agapanthus praecox 'Perpetual Peace'
'Perpetual Peace' is a dwarf variety that produces stunning clusters of white flowers over an extended blooming period, often from early summer well into autumn. This long-flowering Agapanthus is also low-maintenance, as it rarely produces viable seed, preventing unwanted spreading in the garden.
Cultural
Agapanthus can be described as ‘bulletproof’ — they are extremely hardy and will grow in most soil types and situations. They can be divided with a spade and replanted. They require little water and have minimal pest problems. However, young foliage can be tasty for snails and slugs! If necessary, apply bait as a preventive measure. To promote continuous flowering, remove spent blooms and consider pruning away old foliage near the base.
Landscape Uses
Ideal as a border plant or for edging walkways and driveways with its striking foliage and blooms, Agapanthus thrives in containers, making it a popular choice for patio gardens and balconies. Its versatility also extends to mass plantings in garden beds, where it creates stunning displays of colour and texture.
