Azalea indica 'Magnifica Rosea'
Azalea 'Magnifica Rosea' is a hardy, vigorous-growing variety that bears a profusion of large, single magenta flowers in spring, with additional spot flowers appearing in autumn.
Cultural
Prefers a full sun to part shade position with well-drained, humus-rich soil that is slightly acidic. Hardy once established, Azaleas benefit from pruning after flowering to maintain a compact shape. Mulch well during extended dry periods and fertilize with an Azalea-specific or complete organic fertilizer in spring and late summer. If flowers become mushy, it might be a sign of petal blight; remove and dispose of affected flowers, then treat with appropriate fungicides. Azaleas are also susceptible to insect attacks, such as aphids, treat with suitable pesticides.
Landscape Uses
Looks stunning and performs admirably whether mass-planted under trees, used as a specimen plant, or placed in pots to enhance courtyards, entertaining areas, or entrances. Azaleas excel as flowering border plants and harmonize beautifully with other traditional favourites like Camellias and Magnolias. 'Magnifica Rosea' is known for its vigorous growth, making it an ideal choice for standards as well.
