Liriope muscari 'Monroe White'
Commonly known as Lilyturf, 'Monroe White' has long, arching, strap-like leaves that are deep green and glossy, it grows in a clumping habit, with the foliage forming dense, rounded mounds. In late summer to early autumn, it produces tall flower spikes that rise above the foliage, adorned with small, white coloured flowers. After flowering, the plant often produces small, black, berry-like fruits.
Cultural
Prefers a full sun to part shade position with well-drained soil, though will tolerate full shade, though foliage may elongate. It can withstand frost and coastal conditions. To promote fresh new leaves in spring, cut old foliage down to the ground in winter. They are susceptible to small grubs and snails, treat accordingly.
Landscape Uses
Widely used in landscaping, Liriope is an ideal ground cover and border plant. Smaller varieties are perfect for planting between pavers. They are also great for underplanting and look fantastic with other glossy-leaf plants such as Gardenia florida and Helleborus varieties.
