Ajuga reptans 'Catlins Giant' is a robust ground cover, prized for its vigorous growth and striking foliage. It forms dense mats of large, glossy, ovate leaves that range in colour from deep green to rich purple. In spring, 'Catlins Giant' produces tall spikes of small, blue-violet flowers that rise above the foliage, attracting pollinators such as bees and butterflies.

Cultural

Will grow best in a moist well drained soil in a sunny or partly shaded position. ‘Catlins Giant’ is a hardy plant once established, and will tolerate cold conditions. Protect from snails and slugs. It will benefit from an annual feed in Spring with a good quality fertiliser.

Landscape Uses

It makes an excellent groundcover in borders and will grow well around and under trees and shrubs. Its coppery-purple leaves will add interest and contrast to the garden.
