Acmena smithii 'Green Screen'
Our own cutting grown form of this popular species. A quick grower with fantastic dark green foliage and bronze tinted new growth. Will produce mauve berries and grow to 8m if left untrimmed.
Cultural
To ensure optimal results, Acmena smithii Green Screen should be grown in a full sun or partially shaded position. It becomes extremely hardy once established. Can be kept trimmed to the desired height and width and may be cut back quite hard to maintain its size. Regular trimming will produce more colourful new growth and keep the plant bushy. Will tolerate dry conditions once established and is reasonably frost tolerant. For best results fertilise with a slow release fertiliser in Spring. Like all the other forms of Acmena smithii this plant will not get leaf damage from psyllids.
Landscape Uses
An ideal choice for a quick growing solid screen or windbreak, as its deep green foliage provides a good backdrop for other plants. It can also be grown in large containers or clipped into topiary shapes. Suitable for street plantings and industrial sites.
