Camellia japonica 'Lady Gowrie'
Named after one of the pioneers of child care, this compact grower has large fuchsia pink semi-double blooms.
Part shade. Pink varieties will generally take more sun than white varieties. Well drained, slightly acidic soil. Dense shade restricts flowering. Fertilise in Spring and Summer with a specific Camellia fertiliser or a complete organic fertiliser. Prune after flowering to maintain a compact shape.
Fantastic flowering garden shrubs, very hardy and drought tolerant once established. Suitable for growing in containers in small courtyard or entertaining areas. Plant with other traditional favourites like Azaleas, Pieris and Helleborus.
