Acmena smithii 'Fire Screen'
This psyllid-free lillypilly makes a perfect screening plant. Glossy mid-green foliage with copper-red new growth which fades to bronze. Features white fluffy flowers and purple Spring berries.
Suitable for open to partially shaded position. It becomes extremely hardy once established. Can be kept trimmed to the desired height and width and may be cut back quite hard to maintain its size. Regular trimming will produce new growth and keep the plant bushy. Will tolerate dry conditions once established and is reasonably frost tolerant. For best results fertilise with a slow release fertiliser in Spring. Like all the other forms of Acmena smithii this plant will not get leaf damage from psyllids.
An ideal choice for a quick growing solid screen or windbreak. Perfect for poolside plantings thanks to minimal berries. It can also be grown in large containers or clipped into topiary shapes. Suitable for street plantings and industrial sites.
