Day of the Dragon - Azalea ‘Scarlet Dragon’

This compact Azalea may be small in stature, but packs a punch with its bold red blooms and glossy green foliage.

The ultimate landscaping azalea

Once Winter is over, Scarlet Dragon comes to life with plentiful buds bursting into scarlet flowers through Spring. It makes a delightful low border hedge, which looks great all year around thanks to its glossy green foliage. It is also suitable for pots, adding some colour and charm to outdoor entertaining areas and patios. It also makes a good filler for garden beds, and underplanting pleached hedges.

Caring for your azalea

‘Scarlet Dragon’ will grow in full sun or part shade with Summer watering. Plant in a well-drained, humus-rich soil that’s slightly acidic. Fertilise in Spring and late Summer with an Azalea specific fertiliser or a complete organic fertiliser. Prune after flowering to maintain a compact shape. Azaleas are susceptible to insect attack, so treat with appropriate insecticides as necessary.
